Doggie’s Day Out!

Charleston Animal Society (CAS) is very appreciative of BoomTown's continued support over the years that includes an annual Super bowl Square drive & Chilli Cook-Off fundraiser for the Pets for Life program. And now, Jeff Carey - Charleston tech Infrastructure Engineer and former BoomTown employee - invites us to join them for a FREE lunch-n-learn Friday, July 22 at 11:45am at the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce in Park Circle to hear about some new ideas for helping the most at-risk dog populations! All Boomers welcome!

The truth is, some of the dogs in Charleston Animal Society’s care struggle greatly within the shelter environment, becoming very withdrawn and fearful, making it difficult for potential ‘parents’ to assess their "real world" behavior in a new forever home. For this reason, it's vitally important that we get those dogs out of their kennels into less stressful environments far more often.

The talk will describe ways to help us do just that with a wide range of options to suit volunteer availability: from short scheduled "play time" shifts at the shelter, to day-long outings with a dog in need (to your home, or office, or around town), as well as to extended in-home fostering. After lunch, those who have the time are invited to the shelter located minutes away for a tour!

Jeff has been working with CAS in all of these capacities for years now, and will be at there to offer insight from a volunteer's perspective on what each of these programs require, as well as why he's found them to be very personally rewarding, particularly in regard to creating new opportunities for socialization and community involvement in a world where many have shifted to full-time remote work.

See you there!!
