We Are (Still) the Champions

After a two-year long hiatus, the Charleston Digital i5k finally returned - in a new location with new participants but BoomTown still crushed competition for the 2022 Spirit Award!

BoomTown is notorious for crushing competition between all participating Charleston tech companies for the infamous Spirit Award, and this year was no different. Even as many post-2019 Boomers had never participated in the race before, they embraced the classic 1996 Space Jam theme wholeheartedly & made a spectacle of themselves in honored tradition.

Special shout out to the team members who worked on the t-shirts, swag, tent + keg set up & most importantly the costumes!! Boomer family members Emily Caler & Bonnie Caruso for hand-sewed / crafted the Bill Murray’s golf t-shirts & umbrella hats as well as the gigantic Looney Tunes “Gossamer Heart Monster” character that Boomer Michael Rives wore like a hero! Thanks to EVERYONE who wore their costumes in spite of the first Charleston heatwave of 2022!! Boomer Josh Campbell once again created our iconic t-shirts (coveted by everyone at the race) that included Ukraine’s flag logo because we continue to include prayers & solidarity for our Ukraine families in everything we do. And CONGRATS to all the actual i5k Boomer race winners!! As ever, Boomers applied our core values to Do the Right Thing, Do More with Less, Seek & Share Knowledge, Go For It, Spread Laughter & Have Fun, Stay Humble, Communicate Openly & Honestly to Create Amazing Experiences not only for ourselves but for the Charleston Tech community as a whole! Thanks Charleston Digital Corridor! This.Is.BoomTown!
